Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

there was an explosion near this bridge so it was closed to cars except ambulances and people who wanted to get to the other side of the river (like me) had to walk, it was a long walk but my friend and I spent the time taking photos with our cell phones. the building in the background is the ministry of health. the explosion was in a road junction.

explosion in the college next door
Related to country: Iraq

I usually go everyday to my college but this day I didn't. later I knew that there was an explosion in the college next door, I pass by it everyday and some of my college students hang out in that college and vice versa.

the bomb was put in some student's locker. one student died and another was injured.

Here’s what one student who was there said, “what I saw today is saddening, I saw students badly injured and others with less severe injuries. People were running not knowing where to go as if lost”

The student who died was about to graduate and become a dentist. May God bless his soul.

starting my projects

Today is a great day for me. I went first to an orphanage run by the government and I talked with the superintendent, he was a nice man. He answered all my questions about the system of their work but the thing is he said that I can do nothing to help them unless I get a permission from the authorities. I find it a very stupid idea that one has to get permission to help orphans. Anyway I have to do things by their rules so I’ll do it (God willing). I was thinking that I can help in teaching them and also maybe to raise some funds to bring gifts and other stuff for the children there.

Next I went to a department of the ministry of education to talk to the chief there, I waited long but finally I got to meet him, he was nice too and I told him about my project to introduce ICT (information and communication technology) to schools, he was understanding and told me to submit officially the project to him and he will take it to the ministry of education and see if they approve it, the thing this time is money, he said the ministry don’t have sufficient funds.

I used to sleep all morning but this day I did something useful I hope and I think it’s much healthier to wake up early and I feel more active too.

I was postponing starting my work on these two projects, I don’t know why maybe because of laziness or fear from rejection. Anyway after reading Maitreeye’s updates I got motivated and so thank you so much Maitreeye.

The War

Before the war on saddam, I watched sadly the anti war demonstrations in several countries of the world and I was worried that the stance taken by some countries like France, Germany, Russia and others would make America change her mind and drop the decision of fighting saddam but fortunately the American troops started coming to Kuwait and the Gulf so I was sure that the Iraqi people will finally be free.

I don’t know why some people are so anti war but to me it was the only way to get rid of saddam. It is important to realize that if you want to completely comprehend the situation in Iraq, you need to understand saddam very well and what he meant to us and then you will see that we were living in hell and that we will be thankful to any one who save us from saddam.
