The War

Before the war on saddam, I watched sadly the anti war demonstrations in several countries of the world and I was worried that the stance taken by some countries like France, Germany, Russia and others would make America change her mind and drop the decision of fighting saddam but fortunately the American troops started coming to Kuwait and the Gulf so I was sure that the Iraqi people will finally be free.

I don’t know why some people are so anti war but to me it was the only way to get rid of saddam. It is important to realize that if you want to completely comprehend the situation in Iraq, you need to understand saddam very well and what he meant to us and then you will see that we were living in hell and that we will be thankful to any one who save us from saddam.

Me and my community.
Well..I am an Iraqi student too, studying in Iraq. People asked me if there was another way to get rid of Saddam without war. I was paused and said maybe not. But still, I would never say I agree with war. I don't agree to get Saddam back, not at all, but that doesn't mean I accept what the troops are doing just because they are NOT SADDAM! No. I refuse. I don't want to live under threat of kidnapping. I don't want to live with the images of armer veihcles everywhere, and with their silence towards all kidnapping and roberries, saying they help, without enough proofs. I am thankful for them to live now able to express my idea, and able to talk freely. But I would like to say...Think more of a better world, think before act. A weapon is not a solution. A pause of thought to a possible solution is the real solution.

I am waiting to see what will happen to my country. I know america is a very developed country, and I wish to finish my medical studies there too. But now a question is, what future holds? Is it going to be better? We are living there, we still have our dreams there, and we may die there at any moment, but....will our death and hope bring our grandchildren a better life??????

Best regards...and In Peace.

We make our future
Nour I liked your comment but still I have some remarks. I know you hate war, I too hate war very much because I (and you too) have lived it. Anyway it was the only way to get rid of saddam. I mean if the decision of war was yours to make, would you prevent the war and thus let the Iraqis suffer for good or would you agree to the war and by doing so there will be some innocent people dying but it will be the end of suffering, so what would you have chosen?

“what the future holds?” I think that we (the Iraqis) should make our future, we can’t just wait for what’s coming, we have a lot of problems to deal with and for the first time we can do something about them so why not? America did something for us but she won’t do everything for us, we have to make our new Iraq. And Nour we will be living a much better life.

I end up with this saying, “Everything great that has ever happened to humanity has began as a single thought in someone’s mind”

Best wishes
